Working effectively with caregivers is essential to every play therapy relationship.
In this workshop we will explore the research base for effective engagement of caregivers within the play therapy process, discuss barriers to inclusion of caregivers, and create tools for practical use with play therapy clients.
During this training, play therapists will be able to:
- Identify three necessary components to a healthy working relationship with caregivers of play therapy clients
- Practice two skills for communicating about the therapeutic powers of play to play therapy clients and caregivers
- Address three challenges during the early play therapy stages
- Explain play therapy in caregiver-friendly manner
- Create a resource for play therapy caregivers
- Build a personalized plan for caregiver inclusion in play therapy
